Another Hospital Visit

William fell over whilst dancing in the shower (despite being told all the time, not to!) last night and split his chin open.  It was a very cold and wet night in Melbourne last night, so the last thing we wanted to do was drive to the Emergency department!

We arrived at 7pm, and got triaged straight away and then 20 minutes later saw a doctor.  But because William had had his dinner at 6.30pm, we had to wait abut 3 hours before they could give him the gas to put the stitches in!! So off to the kids playroom to wait!! We got chatting to a mum who was waiting for her son to have stitches in his head from hitting the coffee table, so the boys played happily for ages.

Finally at 9.40pm, William is ready for the gas.  He chooses strawberry flavour for the inside of his mask, holds the mask to his face for a practice with oxygen, then continues to hold it with the doctor while they turn the gas on and get him ready for his stitches.  Paul and I have taken bets - Paul 2 stitches, me 4 stitches.  So 4 stitches later (Yeh Mummy you won!) William holds the mask like a professional, no tears at all, and he lies very still.  When it's all over he sits up with a big smile on his face and wants to look in the mirror! back to the waiting room for the paperwork and cream for his chin and he and Paul play games, and William is dancing around the room - it's now after 11pm!!

I didn't think  I should take shots of the procedure but here are a few from our latest hospital visit.

Waiting to the see the doctor with the bandage Daddy put on.

Western Australia Adventure

Well we have been home for almost 2 weeks now from our fantastic 6 week holiday and Melbourne is freezing.  William has fast settled into Kinder and we are back in our routine.

I think the highlight of our trip was the Dolphins.  Paul and I were fishing at Peron NP and a pod of dolphins came up to the boat and put a show on for us swimming at the bow of the boat while we motored along, they were so happy diving in and out of the water for what seemed like ages.  William and Tony got picked from a crowd at Monkey to feed a Dolphin.

We had a fantastic time with Tony & Shiv, William even calling Tony, Ton by the end of the three weeks.

Bremer Bay was stunning, fishing every morning (unsuccessfully) for 7 days and then off to the beach after lunch. - There are about 12 beaches to choose from.  Then onto Denmark, fishing every morning again with the motor breaking down one morning and Paul having to row back to shore which took about 30 minutes to William singing - Row, Row, Row your Boat - he was not impressed!!

William got a dose of School Sores (or invertigo) whilst we were in Exmouth - so after a trip to the hospital, dressing and antibiotics, he had to stay out of the water and off the beach for 3 days - tough in 30 degree heat!!  Then we got to Broome and a phone call to return to the hospital to check out his Staf infection.  We waited 2 hours in emergency for a 5 min from the doctor of "Oh he's OK" want to see my fishing pictures - so the doctor and Paul spent more time looking at fishing photos and video's than he did William's leg.  Come on Boys!!!!

Tony & Shiv reluctantly left us after 3 weeks and we headed up to the stunning Cape Leveque for 7 nights.

We took over 400 photos, here is a selection of some of the best, not to bore you too much!!
